Siding panels, a type of cladding, take the form of sheets of material. In Japan, these are most often used on new detached homes, while elsewhere in the world they are more widely used, including on mid- and high-rise buildings.
There are many different categories, depending on the material used. For the siding panels used on facilities at the Expo 2025 venue, we have used ceramic-based siding panels that use recycled cement as their principal ingredient. This material commands an 80% market share for exterior cladding applications on detached homes in Japan, and its ease of installation means it can be installed quickly. Possible design variations are also plentiful.
At KMEW, we pursue activities that range from manufacturing our products to their distribution and on-site installation with consideration for the environment, through measures such as utilizing recycled materials, making use of renewable energy, and reducing our CO2 emissions. Our green procurement ratio (the proportion of materials that we use that are recycled) is growing year in, year out and has reached around 50% for KMEW products overall. To ensure that customers, by using our products, are helping to protect the environment and that we can continue operating into the future, we will continuously review the impact our business as a whole has on society, and work to make society more sustainable.
